MattGiovannetti
My name is Matt Giovannetti. I am a Dean’s list honors Radio-Television-Film Major at The University of Texas at Austin. I am a freelance screenwriter, editor, and filmmaker.
In my free time, I have made 14 short films in the past five years. I’ve won two 48 Hour Film project awards, and was also the lead actor in a 2024 San Diego Comic Con short film.
Currently, I am a media intern for the Texas Institute for Excellence in Mental Health. I storyboard and edit videos for the ‘Voices of Texas’ series, highlighting achievements of mental health professionals in the state.
I am also the Cinema Literacy chair for the DKA Lambda chapter. I program weekly screenings of diverse films and plan an end-of-year screening to showcase short film projects funded by the chapter.
‘Nossas Novas’ is a short documentary project I made for my Latinx Filmmaking class. A Brazilian band’s vocalist, protective of her image, finds joy playing bossa nova music at a local venue.
‘The Audition’ is a comedy short film I wrote and directed in my free time about a neurotic high school senior and his best friend competing for the affection of the same girl and the lead role in the school musical. Won honorable mention at ATX Short Film Showcase.
I was a lead counselor at Creator Camp in Austin, Texas this past summer. I instructed around ten 6-13 year olds each week in short video production, game design, and animation courses. We also awarded students with trophies every week in a mock ‘Oscars’ ceremony.
